Welcome to Sport's Cookbook
Welcome to Sport's Cookbook. This is a digital humanities project for ENG 5680: Children's Literature, at Wayne State University, for Fall 2014. This project intends to further explore the character of Sport, from the novel Harriet the Spy, and his contributions to his household and the novel. In much the same way that Harriet herself speaks to young artists and writers, Sport speaks to those peripherally affected by the single-mindedness of creative loved ones. He represents the collateral damage that goes along with the creative process; the gap-fillers who make sure writers, painters, and dreamers get fed and keep the utilities on. This website contains a blog, which holds both Sport's Recipes and his Thoughts. His Recipes range from meals he might have cooked for his father, to dishes he might have prepared for friends, and his Thoughts consist of his perspective on events from the novel, as well as his responses to other characters' reactions to his cooking. There is also a digital financial Ledger, which contains the Ledger itself, Receipts, and other documents related to Sport's fiscal activities, and an Extras section, which will have links to other Harriet the Spy sites, such as blogs, websites, and other resources dedicated to the novel.
