Janie, Beth Ellen and me quit the stupid Spy Catcher Club too. Marion just wanted to play some dumb game and drink tea. That's no fun.
There's another edition of Harriet's page printing tomorrow. I wonder what she's writing now...
Harriet apologized in the newspaper. I guess it was kind of a retraction of what she had written in her notebook. I'm glad I don't have to hate her anymore. She's my friend. She's ALWAYS been my friend.

Click to set custom HTML The only kind of salad I like is Jello salad. I especially like LIME Jello salad. Leave that stuff in the middle of the ring out though. That's just nasty. Dad doesn't really like it when I make this, but that's okay. I can eat his half. Lime JELLO Mold Ingredients: 1 can (16 oz.) pear halves, undrained 1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin 1-1/2 cups cold ginger ale 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup chopped pecans Directions: DRAIN pears, reserving liquid. Add enough water to liquid to measure 1-1/2 cups; bring to boil in small saucepan. Chop pears; set aside. STIR boiling liquid into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in cold ginger ale and lemon juice. Pour 1 cup of the gelatin into 5-cup mold. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until slightly thickened (spoon drawn through leaves definite impression). Arrange some of the pears in mold, pushing into gelatin in mold. MEANWHILE, gradually add remaining gelatin to cream cheese in large bowl, mixing with wire whisk until well blended. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Stir in remaining pears and pecans. Spoon over gelatin layer in mold. REFRIGERATE 4 hours or until firm. Unmold. Store leftover gelatin mold in refrigerator. 1960's Lime JELL-O Advertisement
As a treat, I picked up a few boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I think mac and cheese is probably my favorite food ever. Dad isn't a huge fan, but he is a picky eater. I mean, who doesn't love mac and cheese? I wonder if Cook makes mac and cheese for Harriet's family...I am thinking probably not... Can't forget the milk! Early 1960s Borden's Milk Commercial

The best way to eat vegetables is covered in cheese! These were actually pretty good. I let Dad have most of the broccoli though. 1960's era Birds Eye Frozen Vegetable Advertisement
My father got a huge paycheck for selling his book today, so I decided to celebrate with an egg cream. The book is supposed to come out in the spring. I should be able to make the money last a long time, which is great because we were going to end up a little short on the rent this month.
Harriet came over right after dad found out about the book. It made me sad to see her just then because normally I’d be excited to tell her about it, but not now. I looked up how to make the egg cream in the recipe books at the drugstore, but I used Fox's U-Bet syrup, not Hershey's. You'd think something so good would be more complicated! Harriet threw a piece of paper at me yesterday. Then today, she cut a big piece of Laura’s hair off. I’m sure she’s the one that put the toad in Marion’s desk too. I don’t know what’s wrong with her! First all that rotten stuff in her notebook, then all these mean pranks? This is just not like her. She’s been my best friend for years. I don’t know what happened.
We finished the clubhouse today. It really came out great! The lettering Beth Ellen did for the sign was a little messy, but it’s finished. I feel kinda weird about it though. I’m glad it’s done, I’m glad we have the club. Harriet needs to learn. It’s not nice to spy on people.
